BBC's World Have Your Say http://worldhaveyoursay.wordpress.com - a great example is based on the fully integrated use of web 2.0 applications including radio, voice over phone, SMS, VoiP (Skype), twitter, podcast and email. In addition each issue involves face2face interactions which are broadcasted live together with interventions which are made by people around the Globe using VoiP, conventional phones, SMS, the Blog and e-mail. I like it alot. Now I wonder if we could integrate all of our various forums, websites, blogs etc. in a similar manner.

I am a business student so ICT is still a partial mystery to me. Any volunteers to try take on the following:

  

Youth Forum Internet Presence

I don’t know if anyone else feels the same, BUT I certainly am beginning to find myself “all over the place” – for want of a more apt description. It’s great that we are making use of ICT (particularly the internet) and setting-up Websites, Blogs, Picture Galleries, Groups etc.; however, is it an efficient use? Half the fellows and alumni are in one group, the rest in another and some in every one of them. The issue with this is that they can’t all be followed and presumably half of the applications will in time fall by the wayside. Personally I find “The Human Network” – it having a website and thus the basis to integrate additional features probably the best application.

I thought it might be of use to give an overview of the existing ITU Youth Forum applications:

It's pretty simple really, the blog http://ituyouth.blogspot.com/ is basically the result of one of our sessions at the 2009 Forum based around Web 2.0. It is one of the features developed, the others being the Picasa Phot-Album with Map and another group made a online documentation site.

We also setup a blog http://youthforumevolution.blogspot.com/ for Alumni to post developments in ICT that are happening in their home countries so as to allow everyone to follow what's going on around the globe in ICT. Mainly for compliment and criticism of what goverment and industry is doing, but also allowing the Alumni to say what they are doing. No posts as yet.

It might be nice if the posts published in the two blogs could be displayed on the "http://h-network.org/planet" since it's pretty-much the same general idea only by the 2009 Alumni rather than the 2001.

I agree that ybeaud did a good job with the site. I still like the fact that the Fellows are all on a Map in Picasa - visually displays the global aspect of the Youth Forum.

Hey begganp,

It's quite right that the content that is there should go in the plenet.

Moreover, the h-network has a blogging system that could be open with a click of a button. I would like to know if thats a better solution than a shared blog.

 

Can someone from ITU 2009 send ybeaud an invite to the website (I don't have the mail)? He really should know about this discussion. I also want his thaughts about all this.
